Laboratory Methods in Allergology
نویسنده
چکیده
This new regular feature will be focusing on the different methodologies used in the diagnosis of allergies, describing current assays and introducing novel approaches. Hypersensitivity reactions can be differentiated into IgEand non-IgE-mediated allergic but also non-allergic reactions. Over the next issues the different in vitro and in vivo diagnostic assays will be explained and the advantages and limitations highlighted.

An evaluation of the clinical efficacy of tomato extract for perennial allergic rhinitis.
BACKGROUND Recently, some common foods in daily life have been found to have anti-allergic effects. We have reported that tomato extract (TE) could possibly inhibit histamine release and mouse ear-swelling responses. Moreover, it is reported that TE could relieve the symptoms for Japanese cedar pollinosis. METHODS To evaluate the anti-allergic effect of TE, we performed a randomized, double-b...

متن کاملLate-onset anaphylaxis after ingestion of Bacillus Subtilis-fermented soybeans (Natto): clinical review of 7 patients.
BACKGROUND Allergic reactions after ingestion of fermented soybeans have rarely been reported. Fermented soybeans were recently reported to be a causative food of IgE-mediated, late-onset anaphylaxis without early phase responses. The objectives of our study are to clarify the clinical and laboratory features and to characterize the allergens in allergy due to fermented soybeans. METHODS Seve...
متن کاملAnaphylactic reaction to camomile tea.
BACKGROUND A type-IV-allergic reaction to German camomile (Matricaria chamomilla) in a form of allergic contact dermatitis is not unusual. However, only a few cases of anaphylactic reaction to camomile have been described in the literature. CASE SUMMARY We present the case of a 38-year-old Caucasian man who developed an episode of severe anaphylaxis with generalized urticaria, angioedema and ...
متن کاملMolecular allergology in North America; understanding the delay
Was America sleeping on its laurels or just snubbing molecular allergology / component-resolved diagnosis? The clinical implementation of molecular allergology testing in Europe dates back to the early 2000’s. Although the importance of major allergens seems to have been readily recognized by allergy professionals in North America, more exhaustive exploration and clinical use of molecular aller...
